January: A New Take on the Ikat Look

Robert Allen's Stitch Ring print in the Spring Grass color

Robert Allen’s Stitch Ring fabric caught my eye due to its new take on the Ikat look that has been around for some time now.   The scale is smaller than most actual Ikat patterns, which makes it work well in more types of window treatments and bedding applications.  Surprisingly, given the embroidered embellishment, the fabric is also rated (at 20,000 ‘double rubs’ ) for use with upholstered furniture that will get fairly heavy use — as might be the case in a a playroom or child’s bedroom.

The fresh color combo in the Spring Grass colorway above, has a palette that adds just a bit of energy to the room with the lime green, while the soft blue, green and brown combined with the soft creme ground keep the fabric from becoming overwhelming.

There are 4 colorways, as shown below:  Calypso Blue, Coral Reef, Parrot and Spring Grass.

Style:  Transitional, Contemporary

Scale:  Medium, with a height of approximately 6″ each, for the larger pattern element

Fabric Specs:

54“  width,  12.5 ” vertical repeat, horizontal repeat 13″

  • Fabric Content –  Ground:  99% Linen, 1% cotton; Embroidery: 100% cotton
  • Country of Finish – India

Fabric Care:  Dry clean only in pure solvents

Use:  This pattern’s scale makes it work well in most all window treatments, bedding & upholstered furniture (with an upholstery rating of 20,000 Double Rubs).

The Stitch Ring print is available in these four colors
