Trina Turk’s Sonriza fabric in the ‘Marine/Pool’ color
Summer weather is finally here! So I’m featuring an indoor/outdoor fabric by Trina Turk this month. This fabric is rather hypnotic, due to the spiral effect in the pattern.
One of the more unusual features of this pattern is the horizontal repeat, which is 52″ — or one full width! The spiral effect can either be played up or hidden, all depending upon how the pattern placement is specified.
The color above, ‘Marine/Pool’ is one of the most hypnotic in the collection and is my favorite. The ‘Java’ color, while calmer, is also very striking. The ‘Java’ and other colors in the collection, ‘Orange,’ ‘Navy’ and ‘Black,’ are below.
Style: Contemporary
Fabric content: This indoor/outdoor fabric is 100% acrylic twill and is rated for 500 hours of lightfastness.
Scale: As mentioned, the horizontal repeat is 52″, one full width. Compare that to the 18″ vertical repeat to get a sense of the scale.
Use: Indoor/Outdoor fabrics are great for a child’s room, dining nook and other areas where spills or stains are more likely, as these fabrics are easy to clean.
Depending upon how the pattern is placed, this fabric can be used as a key or companion fabric. It’s suitable for valances, drapes, shades, bedding and upholstered furniture.

The Sonriza pattern is also available in (left to right) ‘Java,’ ‘Orange’ and ‘Black.’
